Apprenticeships are real jobs, alongside real qualifications. Apprentices develop the practical skills to go further in their careers and earn as they learn, whilst employers benefit because they get access to tailored skillsets, fresh ideas and can recruit from a diverse pool of talented students. Today’s Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of industries and professions, from Level 2 up to degree level, and play a huge role in our region.

Barnsley College

Barnsley College offers over 70 apprenticeship programmes in a wide range of industry sectors including Accountancy; Business; Catering and Hospitality; Childcare and Education Professions; Construction; Computing and Digital; Engineering; Hair and Beauty; Health, Science and Social Care Professions; Leadership and Management; Sport; Travel and Tourism; and Warehousing and Logistics. We are currently training more than 1,290 apprentices and work with more 1,500 employers.

DN Colleges Group

DN Colleges Group is the fifth largest college provider of Apprenticeships nationally. The majority of these apprenticeships are in engineering and construction including major contracts with British Steel, Siemens Gamesa, the NHS and other key employers in key sectors across the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

The college has outstanding partnership arrangements with employers who help develop and deliver programmes either from the engineering hubs at Doncaster and Scunthorpe or in employer training centres which the college operates at British Steel, CATCH, Jack Tighe and Airco.

RNN Group

RNN Training works in partnership with Rotherham College, North Notts College, Dearne Valley College and University Centre Rotherham to deliver intermediate, advanced, higher and degree apprenticeships and training to employers and individuals across Yorkshire, the East Midlands and beyond.

We offer a wide range of apprenticeships in the following sectors: beauty therapy, business administration, childcare, construction, customer service, education, engineering, hairdressing, health and social care, hospitality, human resources, recruitment and motor vehicle.

The Chesterfield College Group

Learning Unlimited is the employer engagement arm of the group, with offices and training centres in Derby, Nottingham and Manchester. For over 10 years, Learning Unlimited has provided apprenticeships and other work-based training to a wide range of employers, from sole traders and SMEs to national brands. Current and previous partners include Nestle, Bombardier, the Post Office, Royal Mail, the NHS, Balfour Beatty, Rolls Royce, Tarmac, Heathcotes, Derbyshire Constabulary, Music Magpie, Amazon, Warburtons and Derbyshire County Council. The college group has built a reputation for providing high quality apprenticeships across a variety of sectors and industries, including engineering, construction, media, auto repair and maintenance, health and social care, childcare, and business support services such as business administration, customer service and IT support.

The Sheffield College

The Sheffield College is the largest provider of Apprenticeships in the region, supporting students, communities, employers and the economy.

We work with approximately 900 employers training more than 2,700 Apprentices across 130 Apprenticeship programmes.

Our Apprentices develop the practical skills to go further in their careers and earn as they learn in the workplace.

Employers benefit from Apprenticeships because they get access to tailored skillsets, fresh ideas and can recruit from a diverse pool of talented students.

Today’s Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of industries and professions, including business and professional, construction, engineering, health and social care, hospitality and catering, digital technology, dental, and many more.

Research commissioned by the College has shown that:

  • for every £1 that students forgo whilst undertaking an apprenticeship, they receive £6.20 in higher future wages
  • employers receive £1.30 in return for every £1 invested in the College’s apprentices, as those apprentices become more competent, skilled and productive
  • former College apprentices employed in the Sheffield City Region workforce in 2017/18 contributed £9.2 million in added income

The University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre

Our AMRC Training Centre offers apprenticeship and CPD delivery within the Yorkshire & Humber region.

Our state-of-the-art centre offers the very best in practical and academic training. Working with employers, we identify and provide the skills required that manufacturing companies need to compete globally, from apprenticeship through to degree level.
